The real question is how many shows they want in the end, how expensive are each of these shows to produce, and what is the return on the value they see with ratings. ![]() That All American is probably one of their cheaper shows to produce. But I think the first announcement shows what is on their mind. I know a lot of people who thought that All American wasn’t going to get picked up over Walker because of the DVR pickup that it saw (and although Walker is still TBD) made it the highest-valued show. Cancellations/Wrapping Series based on costs are across the board on all networks. Look at Fear the Walking Dead ending with this next season. They are not effects-heavy, but from what I understand they have a more remote filming location, which I am sure doesn’t help with the price tag. I would even add Walker Independence into this category. The simple truth is the production costs of the more effects-heavy, shows. Even using practical effects costs them money, which would hurt their storyline. Not really sure how they can cut costs without cutting out all special effects entirely. See, I happen to think that Winchesters is probably in the same boat that Gotham, Superman, and Kung Fu are.
